New York Fashion Week SS 2027: Kaia Gerber opens Khaite

A debut at Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera at 45, Conner Ives arrives and Khaite at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. How New York started the season.

New York opens the season, and in September it opened with new names. The CFDA’s official calendar began with Henry Zankov’s debut at Diane von Furstenberg and ended with Thom Browne, with Ralph Lauren showing on the eve of the week.

Khaite

The most talked-about show of the week was in an industrial space at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Kaia Gerber opened, walking for Khaite for the first time, in a white bra and a fitted leather skirt split at the back to show handmade corsetry underneath. Catherine Holstein called it her most personal collection yet. It drew on lingerie from the 1920s to the 1940s, all ruffles, buttons and flowing layers, and mixed it with Khaite’s stealthier leathers. Trapeze skirts, very pointed shoes and teased, bedhead hair went with it.

Carolina Herrera at 45

Carolina Herrera celebrated 45 years with a collection dedicated to New York.

New names

The British designer Conner Ives showed in New York for the first time, with a new slogan T-shirt among the looks. Kari Vettese mixed her Italian heritage with her California childhood, in brightly coloured ultra-mini board-short bikinis.
