Vogue World: Milano: the Galleria as a runway

Supermodels, pop stars, Olympians and a robot under the glass dome of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Who walked, and what they wore.

On the first night of Milan Fashion Week, 22 September, Vogue turned the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II into a runway. It was the fifth Vogue World, after New York, London, Paris and Los Angeles, and the most crowded cast yet: supermodels, musicians, athletes, and one Unitree robot.

The models

The archive was the point. Ida Heiner wore Versace’s spring 2018 tribute bodysuit, printed with Marilyn Monroe and James Dean. Imaan Hammam’s beaded catsuit carried a Vogue print, after Versace’s spring 1991. Fei Fei Sun walked in gothic pieces from Prada’s autumn 2008 collection, Paloma Elsesser in a floral Marni dress from spring 2024, and Awar Odhiang, one of the busiest models of the season, in a shimmering floral high-neck gown from Demna’s autumn 2026 Gucci.

Helena Christensen wore a custom ivory silk Brunello Cucinelli gown cut to a deep V. Gigi Hadid made her entrance in Valentino haute couture. Vittoria Ceretti wore a sheer white dress with grey Prada heels, and Mariacarla Boscono a grey floor-length gown. Irina Shayk and Ashley Graham walked in black. Eva Herzigová, Gabbriette, Amelia Gray and Alex Consani completed the cast.

The music

Cardi B walked the third act in a dress printed with Vogue covers, and called it a dream afterwards. Jennifer Lopez followed straight after on the arm of the tennis player Lorenzo Musetti. mgk and J Balvin walked too. Alicia Keys closed the night with “I Feel Love.”

The athletes

The fourth act, “The Intelligence Era,” brought out the athletes: the short-track speed skater Arianna Fontana, Aryna Sabalenka, Lorenzo Musetti and Veronica Yoko. The dancer Roberto Bolle and Deva Cassel walked as well.

The verdict

Not everyone was won over. Polimoda’s review said the show leaned towards Hollywood more than Milan. But as a portrait of who fashion wants in its front row in 2026, nobody else came close.
